JULY 2022 / Islip Arts Council Receives a NY EMMY® Nomination

JULY 2022

The Islip Arts Council has been nominated for an Emmy for the story "Islip Arts Council Gives Brentwood Theatre Students A Special Moment in the Spotlight."

This story was part of the 2021 TEENYS virtual celebration of the performing arts by high school theater students in the Town of Islip. Due to COVID limitations, Brentwood High School students did not put on any shows in 2021. In order to give seniors a moment in the spotlight, the Islip Arts Council arranged for the students to perform one number for our cameras. They performed a song from ONCE UPON THIS ISLAND.

It was filmed by IAC President and award-winning video journalist Waldo Cabrera.

Founded in 1974, the Islip Arts Council is dedicated to leadership, advocacy, and excellence in the arts. Our goal is to present, produce, and promote culturally responsive, high quality programs in varied artistic disciplines for our diverse Long Island community.
